Hey family and friends!!!I miss you and I hope you all had a wonderful week last week! So...I was my mission birthday last Friday...6 months down! WOOT WOOT!!! I can't believe it has been 6 months already! We actually taught Julie the week before about Fasting and the day of my actual mission birthday we all decided to fast together for her. After our fast, we all went into centreville (downtown) to contact and I bought a chocolate beurre (butter) cake with a little Petit Nicolas toy on the inside to celebrate with Sœur Tippett and Sœur Ficquet. (It's one of those cakes where nobody knows where the toy is hidden but if you find it in the cake you are king or queen for the day...and you get to wear a crown) Yeah, I actually bit into the toy....it's a miracle that I still have my tooth! After that we ate pasta for lunch and I treated myself to a 7-up! I actually wrote 6-down on a piece of paper and covered my soda in it because I thought it was a cooler idea:)
We found out this past week that Sœur Ficquet will be heading back to Temple Square on the 21st of January instead of the beginning of February. I'm really bummed but I know that she will kick-butt wherever she goes! I got to see Sœur Mason this past week too because she had to come back to Vannes to pick up her legality stuff. It was SO awesome to see her! I feel like you get so attached to your companion after being together every minute of everyday for 6 or more weeks and it's very hard to leave. I know I'm gonna have a tough time when Sœur Ficquet leaves...I told President Babin that it would just be easier if she extended for another year to be with me:) There have been a lot of riots and manifestations (strikes) going on all over Paris and it has spread all the way over France. It's not as bad here in Vannes but we have had to head back to the apartment early a few times. It's been crazy!Well....I don't have a lot of time today again...I'm sorry! We are heading straight to the train station after this to head to Nantes for our exchange. But President Babin shared a little story with all the missionaries this week called the "Continuous Atonement"....it talks all about how you have to have the ups and downs in life. When you are hooked up to a heart monitor...you don't want to see any straight lines...that's bad! The highs and lows let us know that you are participating and not just observing.I loved this quote by President Gordon B. Hinckley...that says:"I know it isn't easy. It's discouraging at times, sure. Aren't you glad it isn't just fun all the time? Those valleys of discouragement make more beautiful the peaks of achievement."We need those tough points to bring us higher and I am grateful for those low peaks. Thank you for everything you do for me! I love you all so much!!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you! You know where to find me:) Je vous aime!
Bisous,
XOXOXOXO
