Bonjour à tous!!!!
Donc. Cette semaine c'était très humide et chaude...c'était hyper
misérable! Le mercredi passé jusqu'à le mercredi prochaine c'est
presque au 39°C ou 105°F. Je pense que je vais mourir😓. Alors, this
week was super hot! It has been around 100 degrees every day with the
blazing sun...well, anyways...for starters...this past week for P-day,
Soeur Brandenburg and I went to Versailles to visit the temple
grounds!! I will send a pic. It was seriously the coolest thing
ever!!! We got off the metro and once we saw the crane we started
booking it down the street. We were both a little teary when we saw
it. We got to see all the windows and glance into the inside...it was
awesome! The construction workers posed for a few photos on my camera
and talked to o us for a bit. I got the opportunity to read my
patriarchal blessing right out front of the Paris France temple during
construction!!! AHHHHH!🎉 I got a picture holding my families photo in
the front of it too so it was like they were with me. It was seriously
one of my favorite moments from my mission!
So, this weeks weekly planning session was seriously the worst! Soeur
Brandenburg and I were throwing wet rags on us the whole time and just
trying to breath. It was so freakin hot! We actually were the only
missionaries without fans because they got ruined in a flood in the
apartment a few months ago. So anyways, it's kind of a funny
story....we had started our weekly planning and were trying not to
melt....and our phone rang and the A.P.s called to tell us that Soeur
Brandenburg needed to give up her IPad because half of the other ones
in the mission office had been stolen...so we had to go and drop hers
off and would be sharing mine. So, on the
Way to drop it off...we had to renew our Navigos to take the RER
because it was the beginning of the month...and after spending an hour
at the atm...we weren't able to get Soeur Brandenburg's money out to
pay for the renewal; and called the mission office to see what was
wrong with her card, and came to find out that her card had been
hacked by someone in Indonesia. So, we took all the money out of my
account to pay for them...got our Navigos....and finally made it to
the mission office and the Maynard's....a cute mission couple who was
waiting to get the iPad...were so sweet and gave us Popsicles while we
waited in air conditioning and they ended up finding us a fan when
they found out we didn't have one! Oh my gosh...it was seriously the
craziest day!!
And then the day after that....Soeur Bell and Soeur Kitchen came from
Nancy to do their second year legality with me. It was so fun to see
Soeur Bell again! We took a whole bunch of pics together. We spent
forever at the prefecture getting all legalized and then
afterwards....we all went to a place called Consecration Hill. It's a
famous park right next to the birthplace of Henry The eighth I think.
It overlooks all of Paris. We all went there and ate some kebabs
together to celebrate our day of legality🇫🇷.
We found out yesterday that President Packer passed away. Soeur
Brandenburg and I decided that he and Elder Perry are probably
preaching the gospel together on the other side. When I was in
sacrament yesterday, we sat with two Amis behind this really cute
family that has two little girls named Cléa and Eva...and they both
kept turning around and looking at me so I made a few funny faces at
them....well, right after sacrament ended they both came up to me and
gave me pictures that they had drawn. It was so cute!!! They talked to
me for a long time afterwards. I love little French kids!
We had a cool experience this past week also that I wanted to share
with you. We had a rdv set up with our Amis Kenneth and Sandra on
Thursday....and we had texted our dmp to try and help us get a member
to teach with us, but he couldn't find anyone. So, like ten minutes
before the rdv started...frère Broderie our dmp's dad called us and
out of the blue asked us if he had anyone who could teach with us. We
were both totally shocked! That's not something normal that happens to
us. So, we taught them in English and translated in French for
him...it was super cool! We taught about the plan of salvation and he
bore the most beautiful testimony I have ever heard. He kept telling
us how it was so special to teach them because you could just tell
that they had the desire to hear the gospel. And it really made me
think about one of my favorite talks from Bishop Causse about the
topic "Is it still wonderful to you?"....frere Borderie had seen how
special it was to our Amis and it just made me think about how easy it
is for me as a missionary to forget the beauty of missionary work. It
is truly amazing to see the change that people make when they see the
joy in the gospel. I feel like I get so used to doing the same thing
everyday that it becomes easy for me to forget the beauty that comes
with being a missionary. I don't want to look back on this time and
wish that I had done anything differently. I hit my year mark this
week and I have made the goal to love every single random person I
meet on the rue here in France because I don't know when I will get to
talk with them again. I am going to do my best to find the joy in
every day of my last 6 months.
Well...I'm sorry my emails are a little random. I didn't have a lot of
time this week since Soeur Brandenburg and I have been splitting time.
They aren't sure who stole the iPads yet and we don't know if we will
be getting another one. But I love you all and I hope you have a great
week!
XOXOXO Bonne Semaine...
