Bonjour a tous!!!
I am sorry it has been so long since I last wrote a decent email....I
seriously never have time anymore. But, I am going to try to give you
the DL on my new area in this email. So first off...I am actually
writing you from an iPad right now. We got them last Thursday at Zone
Conferences....but, we also found out that we will not be getting
Facebook as of right now. So, I am trying to get used to typing on the
iPad....its been a long time since I last touched technology like
this. UBER weird! I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. And I am
sorry that I don't have any pics for you...I am not a advanced enough
to figure out how to upload them from my camera...desolee!
Alors, I made it to St. Ouen...it is supposed to be the biggest sector
in all of Paris. Go figure, the shortest Soeur ends up in the biggest
area....I think God has a sense of humor.😏(I figured out how to use
emojis!!!) Anyways....everything is really fast paced here. The
weather is picking up too....Paris is in constant sauna mode. Makes
for a fun time when you are riding RERs and metros. You would not
believe the amount of people that fit into those things at one time.
When the beeper goes off for the doors to shut....it's like a stampede
of humans shoving themselves onto you....try not to picture it...it
isn't pretty. I told you before that my first lesson was in the
visitors center here in Paris...it was seriously the coolest
experience! I taught one of our ami's named Valerie. It was even
cooler because it was in English. Bonus points for being able to
understand the entire lesson. I even got to eat at the Paris
MacDo...yup I saved the receipt for proof of my Parisian life👍🏻....
We have a couple of amis right now. We have Valerie; Usha who is from
Mauritius we also teach her in English...Kenneth and Sandra from
Nigeria and her half sisters Nikki and Edith just became new Amis
today. We also have Zohra who is from Algeria...she is about seventy
and speaks Arab and French but doesn't know how to read and can't hear
very well. Half of our lessons end up with her trying to teach us
Arab. She is super cute and I love her to death. Last Sunday, we
actually went up to her house (she lives just right around the corner
from us), and we helped her weed her yard. It reminded me of before my
mission when I was outside working in the yard with my mom....and I
kept saying that weeding the yard had nothing to do with missionary
work-boy was I wrong!! The past few weeks have gone by so fast and so
slow at the same time. I am still adjusting to the RERs and crazy
Paris people.
This past week we went to the Eiffel Tower for pday with a few other
soeurs. Soeur Brandenburg and I took lunch with us....we looked so
classy with our devil-egg sandwiches, just chillin on the top. I will
try to send pics when I figure out how. We also had our exchanges with
the Paris STLs. It was fun to see Soeur Tippett and Soeur Simpson. I
spent the day with Soeur Simpson here in St. Ouen....it was kinda
funny because we had planned to have a rdv with another one of our
amis Marjoe who is from Haiti. We have had a few lessons with her and
for our exchange, Soeur Simpson and I while we were waiting for her at
the church....a few police officers stopped right in front of the
church doors and started controlling people. It was uber awkward
waiting for Marjoe while police officers were yelling at people right
outside the door. It made for a good laugh after😄. I also cut Soeur
Simpson's hair during our exchange....it was my 5th Soeur that I have
cut hair for....I never expected to do that on my mission!💇
Well....I'm sorry this email is kind of random. I am trying to catch
up after 3 weeks. I'm sorry it has taken me so long! Hopefully with
the iPad I will be able to write more now. I love you all and I am so
grateful for all of your love and support. I hope you have a great
week!! Gros bisons....XOXO
Avec amour,
Soeur Nelson
