Bonjour to all!
First thing...next week I won't be able to write. Soeur Brandenburg
thinks she will be leaving St. Ouen and she doesn't want to have to
worry about emailing next week. But I love you all and will make up
for it the next week...I promise!
Okay, so this week has flown by and honestly it is hard for me to
remember everything that has happened. Well, last Monday for p-day we
had the intention to go to Sacre Coeur...one of the famous churches in
our sector, but we didn't get enough time because we needed the time
to do emails. It's hard getting everything done on Mondays before
6:00. Tuesday, we ate ate a members house named Soeur Touret. She
usually has us over every week and she is a little intense. She does
this thing where she will either give us huge chunks of strong French
cheese on a hamburger or hot dog bun and put tortilla chips on the
side....or microwave a frozen chicken cordon bleu and stick it in on
bread like a sandwich, also with tortilla chips on the side. Along
with a diet coke. Anyways, normally my little body is pretty good
about eating it but this time we had the chicken cordon bleu in a
sandwich and I was feeling really sick!😨...it was kind of a hard day
for me. But it was really cool because later that night we had a cool
experience. We were supposed to go to a rendezvous an hour away but
our RER completely shutdown. We didn't really have anything else
planned out, but we couldn't wait another 45 minutes to go...so, we
decided to go to a park by a members house nearby and try a bit of
contacting. Well, long story short...I contacted a lady with her son
and little girl named Nadia; and we spent awhile talking together. She
spoke a little English, so that was awesome! She ended up being not
being of any specific faith but she told us that she believed in angels. #solid.
Anyways, we got the chance to pray with her and her kids and after the
prayer she was super cute and said: "thank you for sharing this moment
with me...". Oh my gosh! She was so cute!!! There haven't been a lot
of times on my mission where people have take the time to thank me for
a prayer. It was seriously the nicest thing ever!😇 I made the goal
after I talked with her, that every night during planning, I am going
to write down the names of the people I meet each day; to help me
remember them...I wish that I had done that from the beginning of my
mission! Dang it!
For my year mark, we actually ended up having district meeting with
the elders. We had three rendezvous planned but they all ended up
getting fruged. So, as a backup plan we decided to try and go find
some less actives. I tried to lead us to the ville but we ended up
getting lost...it was really cool though, because we did a whole bunch
of contacting and we ended up porting this door and found a man who
ended up being an old member in Versailles. He told us that we were
the first missionaries that he had seen in 35 years! He was excited to
tell his mom that he had talked with the missionaries. Apparently I
was supposed to get us lost!😉 I got really sick this week and am
still trying to recover.
Well...one last thing. Saturday, it was pretty fun because we had a
big zone activity with the Paris, Versailles, and St. Ouen
missionaries. The ZL's made a huge Livre de Mormon, and we took it out
to the George Pompidou fountain in the heart of Paris, with posters
trying to explain to people what Mormons are. We all went ham for an
hour and passed out over 100 Books of Mormon!! We also ended up
getting around 50 referral numbers. It was so awesome! I found some
awesome people. I am supposed to get some pics from Elder Ricks to
send to you from the activity...hopefully. We also, had a big paroisse
activity at the church Saturday night. We did a member missionary
musical night. It was super cool to get to stand up with all the other
missionaries and sing "Seigneur mon Dieu".
I am now officially a year out on my mission!! Crazy to think about.
Well....I hope you all have a wonderful week full of blessings! Thank
you so much for all your love and support! Je vous aime! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
XOXOXO
