Bonjour all!!!!
I hope everyone had an awesome week! Thank you for all the birthday wishes...it seriously made my day:) So yeah, yesterday was my birthday....it was kind of funny because since it was General Conference the week before, we ended up fasting for my birthday. Haha, Soeur Clark and I decided to start our fast on Saturday night; which is when we have our Soirée Familiale with all of our recent converts and ami's. And a couple elders surprised me by baking a wonderful cake! I couldn't eat it thought because I was fasting....but all the ami's loved it:) They all sang to me and had me blow out the candles. It was awesome! I got to eat a little piece after sacrament yesterday though and it tasted wonderful! We celebrated with some amazing American Mac'n Cheese that my sweet mom sent me. And while we ate, my district leader called and sang to me with a few other elders:) After that, Soeur Clark and I walked through a windstorm and did some contacting. Soeur Tippett and Soeur Stevens and Soeur Babin all texted me and wished me a happy birthday too...they made my whole day! It was kind of crazy because...later last night, Elder Madsen surprised me by calling and singing happy birthday too...and I accidentally butt dialed him right after I hung up the phone...and so I quickly hung up again, and then he awkwardly called back and I was like: "Sorry I accidentally called you again after you sang to me..." and he said: "No actually it's a good thing you called, I wanted to tell you that your MTC Soeur Bell is in the hospital..." And I was like "WHAT?!" Yeah, so I found out that apparently Soeur Bell had a problem with her appendix the past few days yesterday on my birthday, she ended up getting admitted to the hosptial to have surgery. So, last night I called her and I got to talk to her for awhile. It was so wonderful to hear her voice! She was so cute...she and I are planning to be comps again soon. It was the best way I could have asked to finish the day!!:) My birthday was a lot different this year...kind of felt like any other day. I am so used to having my family around me, but this year is was cool because I was surrounded by a family of other missionaries.
I don't have a lot of time today...so, I will talk about my hump day next week...I'm sorry! But I wanted to share a cool experience we had on Saturday. We got to teach Cameron in the morning. She is doing good...we are still working on another baptismal date because her family isn't super supportive right now. But so, we taught her and then we also got the chance to teach her aunt Luna afterwards which was cool. And then later during the day...Soeur Clark and I were walking around doing some porting and contacting...and it was like super rainy. Soeur Clark was having a bit of a hard time and I didn't really know what to do...so, decided to stop and just say a prayer. And it was cool, because right after our prayer...we contacted this lady named Paulette. She is a little bit older, and I asked her if she believed in a life after this and she got super interested and started talking all about how her husband believed in something after this life and he died 3 months later...and I got the opportunity to say a prayer with her and prayed that Heavenly Father would help her know that she could see her husband again. By the end of the prayer...she was tearing up and she touched my hand and kept saying 'merci' over and over again. It was super cool. It meant a lot to me to get to speak with her.
Well...I am sorry this email isn't much! We don't have a lot of time today....but I wanted to say thank you to everyone for everything. I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!!Bon Semaine!XOXOXOXOXOXOXOSoeur Nelson
